Real-world data (RWD) and real-world evidence (RWE) are revolutionizing healthcare. They offer insights into the effectiveness and safety of treatments in real-world settings, providing valuable information to healthcare providers, policymakers, researchers, and patients. This community of practice focuses on the collection, analysis, and application of RWD and RWE in healthcare.

RWD refers to health information collected outside of traditional clinical trials. It includes data from electronic health records, health insurance claims, patient registries, wearable devices, and even social media. The analysis of RWD provides RWE, which offers insights into the effectiveness, safety, and value of treatments in real-world settings.
RWE can inform decision-making at multiple levels of healthcare. It can guide clinicians in choosing the best treatment options, help patients make informed health decisions, inform the development of clinical guidelines, and influence health policy decisions. RWE can also provide valuable information for the development and approval of new treatments.
However, the collection and analysis of RWD comes with challenges, including data privacy and security concerns, data quality issues, and methodological challenges in analyzing RWD to generate reliable RWE. This community of practice serves as a platform for discussing these challenges and identifying solutions.

The community brings together a diverse group of stakeholders, including healthcare providers, researchers, and policymakers, to collaborate and share knowledge on RWD and RWE. Through these collaborative efforts, the community seeks to enhance the understanding and use of RWD and RWE in healthcare.

The ultimate goal is to foster a future where RWD and RWE are integral to healthcare decision-making at all levels, improving the quality and effectiveness of care. In this future, healthcare is more evidence-based, personalized, and patient-centered, and RWD and RWE are at the heart of this transformation.
