    Group Description

Telehealth and virtual care have grown exponentially in recent years, transforming the landscape of healthcare. This community of practice focuses on the adoption and optimization of telehealth and virtual care technologies, aiming to make healthcare more accessible, efficient, and patient-centered.

Telehealth refers to the delivery of healthcare services remotely via digital platforms. It includes telemedicine (remote clinical services), tele-mental health (remote mental health services), and remote patient monitoring. Virtual care, a broader concept, encompasses all the various ways healthcare providers remotely interact with their patients, including telehealth, wearable technology, AI, and more.

These technologies have the potential to greatly enhance the accessibility and efficiency of healthcare. Telehealth can bring medical and mental health services to patients’ homes, overcoming geographical and logistical barriers. Remote patient monitoring can facilitate the management of chronic conditions, providing healthcare providers with real-time data on patients’ health and alerting them to potential issues.

Virtual care can also enhance patient engagement and self-management. With access to their own health data and digital health tools, patients can take a more active role in managing their health.

Despite the potential of telehealth and virtual care, there are challenges to be addressed. These include technical and connectivity issues, privacy and security concerns, regulatory hurdles, and ensuring equity in access to these technologies. This community of practice serves as a platform to discuss these issues, share best practices, and develop solutions.

The community brings together a diverse group of stakeholders, including healthcare providers, policymakers, and digital health companies. Through their collective efforts, they aim to drive the adoption and optimization of telehealth and virtual care.

The shared vision of this community is a future where telehealth and virtual care are seamlessly integrated into healthcare. In this future, healthcare is more accessible, efficient, and patient-centered, with telehealth and virtual care technologies playing a key role in this transformation. This community of practice is dedicated to making this vision a reality.
