She is a respected thought leader and strategic thinker with keen analytical capability and an inclusive approach to drive equitable outcomes. She is also a known consensus builder and tenacious problem solver who communicates, engages, and coalesces across all levels to improve organizational culture with lasting impact. Currently, Kim serves as the Chief Diversity and Health Equity Officer for the PAN Foundation and is responsible for working across PAN to embed diversity, equity, and inclusion principles and a sense of belonging in all that PAN does. Prior to her current role, Kim served in various executive leadership roles for the American Diabetes Association, Feed the Children, Good360, and US Foods. Kim has a JD from the Widener University School of Law and a BA in political science from Temple University.

Anne Lord Bailey, PharmD, BCPS
Executive Director, Strategic Initiatives Lab, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs

Dr. Bailey is the Executive Director of the Strategic Initiatives Lab at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. After completing her residency at Charles George VA Medical Center, Dr. Bailey spent 2 years focused on treating and curing Veterans with Hepatitis C. During that time she led a team of clinicians and piloted a mobile Hepatitis C Clinic for rural Veterans, an experience that greatly expanded Dr. Bailey’s passion for healthcare innovation. She continues to grow her knowledge and experience through mentoring, collaborating, and networking in both healthcare innovation and direct patient care. Since joining the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Innovation Ecosystem, Dr. Bailey has worked diligently to expand the use of extended reality across VHA in part by co-creating and co-leading VHA’s Extended Reality (XR) network. The XR network has grown from 1 VA facility to over 130, with over 800 VA employees who are either using or interested in using XR to improve the lives and care of Veterans. In addition, she is also a Board-Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist and G2Xchange Change Agent award winner.

Ramin Bastani

Ramin is CEO and Founder of Healthvana, a health-tech startup that has become the leading patient platform to get, share, and store information on HIV- and COVID-19-related test results and vaccination records in a clear and understandable format with 50 million records delivered to patients across the United States via Healthvana’s patient communication platform used by healthcare providers/counties. Ramin has a deep understanding of the social side of technology. seeing technology as a way to help the world make better decisions and change the way we interact with each other. Ramin also serves as a board member of NationBuilder, a mission-driven, human-centric software and technology company. Prior to his current role at Healthvana, Ramin served as Principal in The Bastani Group and Founder of SportsFrog!. Ramin holds a degree from the University of Southern California where he was a member of the entrepreneur program.

Elena Brondolo, MPH, MBA, EdD
Director, Future of Healthcare Founder Residency, The Roux Institute, Northeastern University

Elena is the Director of the Future of Healthcare Residency at The Roux Institute, Northeastern University. Elena’s mission is to fast-track healthcare’s future by empowering early-stage health tech innovators. With over a decade of healthcare experience, Elena fuses her passion for healthcare innovation, entrepreneurship, and leadership. Her expertise spans experiential learning, change management, and program development. Before joining The Roux Institute, she dedicated over four years to MaineHealth, initially in clinical implementation and later as a leader in innovation education and funding programs. She revamped program curricula, guided clinicians and researchers in commercializing their ideas, and fortified the innovation foundation of the health system. Preceding her time at MaineHealth, Elena spent four years at Columbia University Medical Center/New York Presbyterian, focusing on patient flow, behavioral medicine research, and organizational development. During her tenure, she co-founded a consulting company offering evidence-based leadership and organizational development support for academic medical research groups. Elena’s people-first approach to program development and partnerships is rooted in her background in Organizational Psychology. She holds an MBA and MPH concentrating in entrepreneurship, change management, and health policy and recently earned her EdD in Learning, Leadership, and Innovation from Northeastern University. Her doctoral research explored strategies for catalyzing healthcare innovation during the pandemic, translating these strategies into action through experiential learning for large systems.

Fabrice Brunet, MD
President and CEO, QIS

Dr. Brunet has been working in the field of health and social services, teaching, and research for over 30 years. Currently, Dr. Brunet serves as President and CEO of the Montreal Health Innovation District. Dr. Brunet left the Centre Hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal (CHUM), after a well-rounded seven-year term of dedication and involvement as President and CEO. Previously, he was President and CEO of Sainte-Justine and President and CEO of both hospitals for three years. In 2018, he was made a knight of the Legion of Honor by France for his lifetime career in healthcare. He demonstrates excellent leadership, initiative, and experience to meet future challenges and innovate, through care, teaching, research, and facilities management activities, for the benefit of patients. His main research interests include hospital management and health system integration, including the use of artificial intelligence, medical information, and communication technologies. He has also developed throughout his career skills in continuous improvement of quality of care and patient safety, international collaboration, and transfer of know-how, among partners of the healthcare ecosystem.

Trudy Buckingham, MSPH
Executive Director, Patient-Focused Implementation Science, Gilead Sciences

Trudy is the Executive Director of Patient-Focused Implementation Science at Gilead Sciences, a biotechnology company with sights set on preventing, treating, and curing life-threatening diseases through the next generation of life-changing medicines and global health partnerships. Trudy is an experienced and visionary healthcare leader specializing in mission-driven innovation, focusing on improving patient experiences, especially as it relates to digital health initiatives. She has a proven track record championing health equity and facilitating informed decision-making and she is passionate about transforming healthcare through collaborative and bespoke partnerships in technology, science, education, and digital health. She is dedicated to accelerating evidence-based solutions, integrating advances into practice, and advocating for under-served populations navigating and engaging healthcare complexities. Prior to her role at Gilead, Trudy worked in various senior leadership and director roles at pharmaceutical companies such as GSK, AstraZeneca, and Elan. Trudy also holds an MSPH in Health Policy and Pharmacoeconomics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Eugene Buff
Director, Health Sciences Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Northeastern University, Bouvé College of Health Sciences

Eugene has over two decades of experience in innovation management, technology transfer, commercialization, scouting, and business development across industries and geographies. His mission is to foster and support a mindset of entrepreneurship and innovation among students, researchers, academics, startups, and industry players. Eugene currently serves as the Director of Health Sciences Entrepreneurship & Innovation at Northeastern University where he is responsible for advancing health and biomedical-related projects within NU’s ecosystem and global markets. He is also the Founder and President of Primary Care Innovation Consulting (PCIC), a new type of innovation management and business development firm. PCIC provides thought leadership, advisement, and execution directed towards growth by open innovation. Eugene earned his Master’s degree in Biochemistry as well as his Medical Doctor degree from Russian State Medical University. He also has a Ph.D. in Genetics and is a co-author of 14 papers in peer-reviewed international journals.

Jennifer D’Angelo, MSHCM
Senior Vice President and General Manager, New Jersey Innovation Institute

Jennifer is an experienced leader with a 20+ year career bringing the right people, processes, innovation, and technology to Healthcare. She has tremendous experience in leadership, information systems (hardware and software), healthcare operations, strategic planning, innovation, and cybersecurity strategies and her ability to leverage data and analytics has allowed her to collaborate as a vital business partner with various members of the healthcare spectrum. Currently, Jennifer is the Senior Vice President and General Manager in the Healthcare Division at the New Jersey Innovation Institute. Her responsibilities include improving efficiencies, recruitment, onboarding, integrations, and operations while maintaining fiscal responsibility for over 80M in funding sources to continually support state-wide initiatives. She works closely with the NJDOH/NJDHS, hospitals, health systems, providers, and patients throughout New Jersey. She is also a prolific volunteer currently serving as BOD Treasure at  NJHIMSS, the Health Care Association of NJ (HCANJ), the HIMSS LTC Committee, AHIMA, the Leading Age CAST, the Jersey Health Connect (HIE), Civitas, and the New Jersey Hospital Association (NJHA).

Lindsay Deneault, MBA
AVP, Partnership Development, Atrium Health

Lindsay Deneault leads New Ventures and Strategic Industry Partnerships for Advocate Health, working with corporate and innovation ecosystems on strategic business ventures, co-development opportunities, and industry partnerships.  Lindsay joined Atrium Health, now a part of Advocate Health, in 2016 to commercialize technology enabled products by collaborating with teammate inventors and to drive execution of enterprise strategic priorities by partnering with emerging and high growth companies.  Examples include Atrium Health’s first therapeutic spinout, MLBio Solutions, to develop new therapies for patients with muscular dystrophy; venture investment into startup Xealth to scale consumer facing digital therapeutics across the enterprise; partnership with Siemens Healthineers on workforce development and environmental sustainability initiatives; partnership with Best Buy Health to co-develop the care at home ecosystem; and the CancerX public private partnership to boost innovation in the fight against cancer as part of the reignited Cancer Moonshot.

Prior to joining Atrium Health, she was a business strategist for the Texas Medical Center in Houston where she was responsible for launching the TMC Innovation Factory and managing the TMCx accelerator program to help TMC’s 21 member health systems spin out early stage technology companies and source startups to solve system needs.  Lindsay has a bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering from Virginia Commonwealth University and a master’s in business administration from Rice University.

She represents Advocate Health in the Academy’s Strategic Partnership Alliance, currently serves as a board advisor for Xealth, has served on the governance committee for the Strategic Ventures Group consortium of health system venture funds, and provides thought leadership and mentorship as an advisor for several health innovation groups and conferences, including the NC Biotechnology Center and SXSW.

Dan Dodson, MBA, MSMI
System Director, Digital Health and Innovation at UNC Health

Dan is a digital health evangelist where within his current role at UNC Health as System Director, Digital Health and Innovation he leads digital transformation from ideation through execution, shepherding cross-functional teams to deliver solutions that drive value for healthcare. His focus is on how digital health technologies can be used to generate system growth, enhance patient-centered care, evolve care delivery models, promote population health, and support innovation and research within the system. Throughout his career, Dan has successfully implemented digital health products and services, including telehealth, mobile, unified communications, marketing technologies, and emerging technologies. Prior to his role at UNC Health, Dan held various senior leadership roles within technology, consulting, and healthcare companies and has a BS in Industrial Engineering, an MBA, and an MS in Health Informatics along with 25+ years’ experience in strategy, product development, marketing and innovation.

Kevin Hagan, MA

With over 20 years of leadership experience in business, nonprofits, and government organizations, Kevin has a proven track record of transforming organizations with his leadership. He utilizes dynamic and collaborative processes to build and create success in all areas of operations, including: organizational strategy and governance, membership, fundraising and resource development, international operations, government relations and advocacy, partnership and donor relations, ethics and compliance, public affairs and communications, talent management and leadership development, and financial management. Kevin is an innovative thinker and keen problem-solver and has transformed large public and private organizations with his direction. He currently serves as President & CEO at the PAN Foundation. Previously, he founded Thrive Impact where he serves as Executive Chairman. Kevin has a Master of Arts from American University in International Affairs and a Baccalaureate from Mercer University in History, Political Science, and German.

Kimberly Hames, MBA
Engagement Director, Deloitte Digital

Kimberly is a health innovation strategist with 20+ years of professional experience nurturing client relationships, managing successful projects, and growing customer-centric companies. She has focused the last 6 years on successfully applying her entrepreneurial, analytical, and creative leadership style to tackle challenges at both start-ups and Fortune 500 corporations in the healthcare, wellness, and consumer products industries. Currently, Kimberly is serving as the Engagement Director for Deloitte Digital as part of the firm’s Customer and Marketing Practice. She shapes and leads federal health projects helping clients tackle health engagement and equity challenges by leveraging innovative, design-based solutions. Kimberly previously served in various associate and director roles at Mosaic Health Solutions, Weight Watchers, Booz Allen Hamilton, Peer Insight, Johnson & Johnson, and Accenture. She also holds dual master’s degrees in Business Administration and Business Analytics from the University of Virginia and a BSBA in Business from American University.

Don Jones, JD, MBA
Operating Partner, Takeda Ventures

Donald has over two decades of experience as a founder, independent Board Member, and Advisory Board member of numerous companies. He works in a balance of Venture Capitalist and Private Equity backed companies and Fortune 1000 companies. His expertise is in applied technology enabling mobility, connectivity, and network effects in healthcare and value-based solutions. His work extends across digital medicine, digital therapeutics, digital health, virtual-first care, and digital transformation. He has an extensive C-suite operating background in EMS, acting as the COO of the largest company in the world, with 29,000 paramedics, growing to $2.5B, Emergency Medicine, forming the largest medical group in the US with 25,000 physicians, growing to $2.5B, house calls, telemedicine, urgent care, M&A, and big data predictive analytics. Donald is also the founder and Chair of the largest private practice in Mexico, a business built around consumer subscriptions. Further accomplishments include building Qualcomm’s Wireless Health Group off a blank sheet of paper. Some of Donald’s notable current operations include acting as an operating partner for Takeda Digital Ventures, a strategic venture capital focused on virtual first healthcare services and technology solutions, Chief Digital Officer of the Scripps Research Translational Institute collaborating with Eric Topol, and as founder of the Digital Medicine Society (DiMe), a virtual-first medical practice collaborative. Donald has a JD from the University of San Diego School of Law and an MBA from the University of California, Irvine.

Jennifer McCafferty-Fernandez, PhD
Senior Vice President, Strategy & External Affairs, Chief of Staff to CEO, Nicklaus Children's Health System

Jennifer is the Senior Vice President of External Affairs and Chief of Staff at Nicklaus Children’s Health System. In her role, she serves as a senior strategic advisor to the CEO and oversees marketing and communications, government and community affairs, as well as patient and consumer experience activities for the system. In close collaboration with the General Counsel, she also co-leads corporate governance and board support services. Her achievements include developing and implementing strategies that increased organization revenue and market share, elevated the Nicklaus Children’s brand in the region and beyond, doubled down on community commitment and engagement, and emphasized the importance of authentic patient focus and experience throughout the organization. Before joining Nicklaus Children’s in 2014, Jennifer was assistant provost and chief medical compliance & HIPAA privacy officer, among other roles, at the University of Miami and the Miller School of Medicine. Jennifer holds a PhD in Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology from the University of Miami.

Corey Mercy, PhD
Head of Delivery Excellence, Health and Human Services at Google

Corey is an experienced, tenacious, and technically inclined professional with a broad background in information technology, project management, technology solutions implementation, and operational streamlining. He is an expert in risk management, full lifecycle development, system integration, business analysis, and information security. And he is known for keen expertise in all facets of project lifecycle development, from initial analysis and conceptual design through implementation, quality review, and enhancement. Currently, Corey works for Google as the Head of Delivery Excellence, Health and Human Services. Prior to his time at Google, Corey worked as an Adjunct Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, as the Deputy Chief Technology Officer in the NC Department of Health and Human Services, and in leadership positions at Vidant Health, The University of Vermont Medical Center, and GE Healthcare. Corey has also served on multiple advisory councils and has an extensive educational background in Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, and Business.

Anne Nguyen, LSSBB

Anne currently serves as the Chief AI Officer at Quebec Innovation Council and the Vice President of Strategy Development & Operations for the Montreal Health Innovation District (QIS), focused on developing a community growth strategy and setting up processes for the operationalization of the district. Anne is a dynamic leader leveraging extensive experience managing complex projects with a solid understanding of the impact of data and analytics on business strategy and operations. She has expertise in interpreting findings and using them to uncover valuable business insights and holds a strong belief that all good technology starts with a human purpose and that learning can and should be transformed through positive, impactful, influential, and powerful actions. Prior to her current role, Anne has held positions serving interest areas such as products, analytics, innovation, and organizational development. Anne has a degree in Management of Health and Social Services from the University of Montreal and a degree in Business Analytics through the Executive Program at Harvard Business School.

Claire Elizabeth Smith
Principal, SpringTide Ventures

Claire is a principal at SpringTide Ventures, and has spent her career focused at the intersection of healthcare, life sciences, and business, with a keen interest in the deep tech opportunities at the intersection of technology and biology. Prior to SpringTide, she was an investor at Meridian Street Capital, where she focused on seed-stage health tech, and Anterra Capital, where she focused on the intersection of biotech and agriculture while launching several animal health startups. Previously, she served as the Chief of Staff at Crestovo, a microbiome therapeutics startup acquired by Finch Therapeutics. She began her career at ClearView Healthcare Partners, a boutique life sciences consultancy, where she advised pharma and biotech clients on a variety of growth strategy topics. Claire holds bachelor’s degrees in biological engineering and management science from MIT.

Michael Vaccaro, DNP, RN, BSN, MHA/MBA, CENP
Senior Vice President of Nursing, Novant Health

Michael serves as the Chief Nursing Officer for Novant Health in the Greater Charlotte Market. In this role, he supports nursing operations across the market with a focus on patient safety, quality initiatives and outcomes, project management, financial management, and staff and patient experience. He has served in a Chief Nursing role for Novant Health for 9 years and has more than 25 years of nursing experience. Prior to his current role, Michael served for 7 years as the Senior Director of Nursing for Women’s and Children’s services at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center. He was responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and supporting the strategic plans for Presbyterian Women’s Center and Presbyterian Hemby Children’s Hospital. Michael received a Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He also completed a dual master’s degree in healthcare administration and business administration from Pfeiffer University. He is certified in Executive Nursing Practice through the American Organization of Nurse Executives and received his Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Michael is also an active member of the Charlotte community and currently serves on several advisory boards and councils connected with healthcare and nursing education.

Donald Goodwin

Currently, Donald serves as a managing partner at Bluedoor Group, a full-service growth and innovation agency for healthcare and life sciences companies. Prior to his healthcare career, Donald was a producer at various studios including Carson Productions.

Tony Newberne
Founder & Coach, Changing Lives FITness

Born and bred in North Carolina, Tony is a Certified Personal Trainer and Dietary Manager. With a passion for impacting others, Tony developed his unique fitness training system, and owns and operates his own Studio, “Changing Lives FITness,” for individual and corporate clients in the Charlotte Metro area and clients via Zoom. His expertise changes the lives of men and women, young and old, to achieve their optimal levels of fitness and wellness while improving their outlook on life and sense of well-being. Tony is a ten-year-plus survivor of high-risk Myeloma and has been on continuous treatment regimens. As he experienced enormous health challenges, his motivation to impact lives only grew. With his participation and commitment to professional patient advocacy organizations/foundations, speaking at various patient programs, coaching individual patients, and providing awareness of services to healthcare professionals, he now contributes in ways he could have never imagined. And most satisfying of all is the privilege to coach those facing cancer who need a mentor and role model to not only survive but to thrive.

Samira Daswani, MS
Founder & CEO, Manta Cares

Samira is an impact-driven founder and product management and design leader who crafts tools and experiences to solve deep problems in human health. As a creative technologist, Samira seeks to elevate the human experience through user-centered design and novel innovations in technology. Samira is a recent breast cancer survivor on a personal mission to make the cancer experience just a little easier for caregivers and survivors. Most recently, Samira founded Manta Cares, the perfect solution for caregivers and survivors looking for a confident way to manage complex medical conditions. Manta Cares offers a global community of support and advice, as well as tools and resources to help you keep track of everything including medication and medical information. Before this role, Samira incubated and launched numerous healthcare startups as a product leader. She started her career at McKinsey & Company and has degrees from MIT, Wellesley College, and Stanford University.
